A single wedding band pierced with “protector” and “predator.” Presented as a unique piece (not a pair), it subverts traditional marriage paradigms and critiques the institution’s political and social implications for women. Inspired by Susan Brownmiller’s 1975 essay, which frames marriage as one of the patriarchal institution’s protective pacts. This critical device defuses romantic imagery and exposes the patriarchal genealogy of marriage, questioning its enduring roles and aspirations.
