ANASYRMA. FEMMINA* ALLA LUCE DEL SOLE

Anasyrma, from Ancient Greek ἀνάσυρμα (“lifting the skirt”), is the deliberate act of raising one’s skirt to expose the genitals. Driven by the desire to expand the symbolic expression of being female in cultural and political dimensions, ANASYRMA. FEMMINA* ALLA LUCE DEL SOLE is an iconopoetic sequence exploring the link between genital display and a combative, magical, revolutionary femininity. Through the performative, apotropaic, and ritual dimension of anasyrma, ten photographic works capture obscene, ludicrous, and sacred bodies in a pantheon of fighters—a rhizomatic, transfeminist liberation.
